Thank you to the PAC for providing the bouncy castles, dunk tank and ice cream truck on Friday.  Everyone had a fabulous time.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday and see you all on the playground on Monday morning.

Respectfully,

Ms. V. Ives

Happy Father’s Day to everyone celebrating today. Hope you are enjoying some family time. I just wanted to thank everyone whom organized and volunteered at the Family Fun Night on Friday. Many families showed up and enjoyed the festivities. I think the PAC probably made some money. Thank you again!!

PAC info:

This year’s PAC AGM is on June 13 via Teams at 6:15pm. We will be electing next year’s council and we are hoping to bring in some new volunteers to join our collaborative team!

All of the council positions need to be filled this year: president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer, emergency preparedness rep, SPEAC rep, fundraiser, hot-lunch coordinator and some members at large. We meet virtually, once a month on the second Tuesday.

The positions that we are most in need of are treasurer, fundraiser and hot lunch coordinator. The treasurer does the council’s book-keeping, tracks spending and funds raised and collected, writes out payments, and reports to the council each month. The fundraiser schedules, coordinates and helps run the various fundraising events during the school year, along with other volunteers. Many of these events are repeats of ones that have been done in previous years, and there is a template to follow to organize those.

The hot-lunch coordinator organizes the twice-a-month lunch events, which have currently been split between Pizza Hut and Whitespot. This person will need to have or get their Serving it Right certificate, and be available on the hot lunch days (usually Fridays) to be at the school to help receive the food and distribute it to the classes.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the Mom’s on this email!  Hope you are all having a fantastic day with your children.  The weather is beautiful so hopefully you were able to get outside!

As the weather is getting warmer, please have your children wear sunscreen as we are still going outside at recess and lunch.  It is also important to send them with a water bottle.  We do not provide water bottles at school as we have water fountains. Some children do not like the water at school so sending in water is important.

If anyone has an extra fan that they are not using and would like to donate to the school, we would all greatly appreciate it.  The school does not have air conditioning.  Just bring it to the office if you have one to donate. Thank you in advance.

We have many field trips coming up so please make sure you have signed all the appropriate forms and please fill out the consents online if you have not done so already.  They have to be done every year and serveral parents have still not completed them.  See below for the link.  Thank you

Regular Reminders:

  • If you are running late, please drop off your child at the front door and let the staff take them to class.
  • If your child is going to be away from school, picking up early for appointments, or late picking up, it is important to email your child’s teacher and Ms. Jodi our secretary (jward@sd62.bc.ca) to let them know directly.
  • Please send spare clothes for your child in case of an accident or other situation where they need to change their clothes.
  • Please send inside shoes with your child if you have not done so already.  This reduces the amount of cleaning our custodians have to do, therefore keeping our school cleaner.
  • Please do not park in the staff parking lot or spaces on Matson Road when dropping off your children.  There are very limited spaces and if you are parked in the spaces, the Ruth King staff will have no spaces to park.
  • Please remind your child not to bring toys (including Pokemon cards) or other sports equipment from home to school unless it is requested by the classroom teacher.  Electronics should also stay at home as well.  Thank you for your continued help with this policy.
