Dear Parents/Guardians,

I hope everyone had a lovely Thanksgiving Day weekend.  The weather was beautiful.  See you all tomorrow.  Here are the events for the week.  Enjoy everyone!

This Week:

Monday – Oct 14 ·       Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!  NO SCHOOL today.
Tuesday – Oct 15

·       Grade 5 Leadership Club meets at 7:30am in Ms. van der Leeden’s classroom

·       PAC is selling popcorn and Smencils at lunch today – $2.00/bag and $2.00/pencil

·       Subway Lunch today for those who ordered.

·       Lunch Program – Chicken Burger on a cracked wheat bun; red delicious apple; chocolate milk

·       Skipping Club with Ms. Hesse at lunch – 12:10

·       Boys Handball Game at Hans Helgesen

Wednesday – Oct 16

·       Lunch Program – Sweet & Sour Meatballs, brown rice and vegetables; banana; milk

·       European Handball practise at lunch with Mr. Stephenson 12:10

·       Div 9 – field trip to Francis King 9:30 – 11:30am
Thursday – Oct 17

·        Lunch Program – Bean & Cheese Quesadilla with salsa; fresh fruit salad; fruit juice

·       Great BC Shake Out Earthquake Drill – 10:10am

·       Skipping Club with Ms. Hesse at lunch – 12:10
Friday – Oct 18

·       Lunch Program – Sloppy Joe w/ shredded cheese; golden delicious apple; milk

·       Pizza Day for those who ordered. (PAC event)

·       European Handball practise at lunch with Mr. Stephenson 12:10

·       Student Vote – grade 5’s

·       Terry Fox/Tour de Rock – fundraising event (Sumo Wresting and Head Shaving) Ruth King families raised $1365.25

Reminders:

Attendance at school is important to us.  Please try to have your children at school on time and ready for school.  If your child is late, please remember to sign them in at the office before heading to class.  If your child is going to be away, please call the safe arrivals phone line: 250-478-1447 Please make sure you have pre-arranged a meeting spot for after school pick-ups.  If your child does not find their pick-up person, it is our policy that the students come back into the building and check in at the office. The hot lunch program is available to everyone. *If you need financial assistance in order for your child/children to participate in this program, please contact the school regarding our payment options.
The PAC has organized a Halloween Dance coming up on Wednesday, October 23rd!
They are in need of volunteers to help out with set-up, concession, photo booth, ticket sales, and clean up. If you are able to help out as a volunteer please sign up for a 30 min shift or two here:  https://signup.com/go/dhZXcmh (you can also find the link on our Ruth King Elementary School PAC Facebook page). They are also in need of cupcake donations for the bake table during the dance. If you are able to make or buy some please drop off any cupcakes in the gym kitchen anytime during the day on Oct.23rd.
The dance will begin at 5:30 in the school gym, with dinner starting at 6:00pm.  Music/dancing from 6-7:30pm. Tickets will be available at the front entrance the evening of for $5 per family.
Please keep costumes appropriate for a family friendly elementary school dance – no full masks or fake weapons please.
