Welcome back everyone! Happy New Year Ruth King! It’s hard to believe it is already the middle of January.

I hope you all had an excellent holiday season and are well rested.  The days are starting to get longer already and it is very important that everyone is getting enough sleep.  It is flu season and already we have seen students heading home because of this.  Please remind your children to wash their hands on a regular basis and stay home if you are sick so that we can work together to keep people well.

I would like to welcome a couple of new staff members to Ruth King as we say good bye to Ms. Radsma (Grade 2 and Music/Drama teacher on Fridays).  Best wishes to her as she heads off to have her baby this month.  Taking her place in grade 2 is Ms. Neilsen and for Music/Drama is Mrs. Binstead.

We have recently had a lift installed to the second floor at the staircase closest to the foyer! If you should happen to see the yellow light flashing and hear a beeping sound, that indicates that the lift is in service.  For safety reasons, we ask that you wait until the lights and beeping stops before entering the staircase.

Reminders:

  • Please remember to slow down in the school zones and drop off your child on Matson Road rather than Jacklin Road or the staff parking lot as it is incredibly busy in these areas. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
  • The hot lunch program is available to everyone. *If you need financial assistance in order for your child/children to participate in this program, please contact the school regarding our payment options.
  • Please avoid sending junk food such as pop, chips, chocolate bars and candy to school. Save those items for special occasions when your children are at home. We sometimes have parties at school too, but for the most part, we are trying to reduce the amount of sugar children eat or drink at school.
