Dear Parents/Guardians,

There have been some new students this week and last, so welcome to the Ruth King Elementary School News. This Week:

*Monday – Oct 17^th*	– Monday Morning Meeting – 9:00am – Lunch Program – Baked Cannelloni, mandarin orange
*Tuesday – Oct 18^th*	– Lunch Program – Chicken fajita wrap and banana bread – Popcorn and Smencils (smelly pencils) handed out today for those who ordered. This is a PAC fundraiser.
*Wednesday – Oct 19^th*	– School Photo Day – brush your hair and wear your best 😉 – Lunch Program – Chicken fingers with plum sauce and banana
*Thursday – Oct 20^th*	– Great BC Shake Out Earthquake Drill – 10:10 am – Lunch Program – Hard-boiled egg, hummus & crackers, yogurt & apple
*Friday – Oct 21^th*	– Professional Development Day – no school

Reminders:

Please remember to keep your children home if they are not feeling well. We have had to send several students home who have come to school sick. We are trying to keep everyone safe. Please follow these guidelines.

Please remind your child not to bring toys or other sports equipment from home to school unless it is requested by the classroom teacher. Electronics should also stay at home as well. Thank you for your continued help with this policy.

If your child is going to be away from school, it is important to email your child’s teacher to let them know directly. Also, if you plan to pick up your child early, please email their teacher as well please. No need to call the office. I have attached a list of email addresses in case you do not have the teacher’s email.

ON THE PLAYGROUND:

1. Please do not bring your dog on the school grounds.

2. Make a meeting spot for you and your child after school so that you can locate each other. If all else fails, come to the office please.

3. Bikes and scooters, or anything with wheels need to be walked on the playground please.

Staff Spotlight

Ms. Jodi is our school secretary. She came to Ruth King last year in November.

Before Ms. Jodi came to work at our school, she worked at West Bay Mechanical. Her role there was a Payroll Clerk.

Ms. Jodi’s favorite part at Ruth King is to help the students and help them solve problems.

When Ms. Jodi is not at her job, she enjoys crafting, paddle boarding, quading, dancing, and sitting around a campfire. Finally, her favorite book is ”Outlander”. Ms. Jodi loves reading about Scotland.
