Hello Parents/Guardians,

Spring is definitely in the air!  Have you seen those cherry blossoms?  So beautiful, but hopefully you are not allergic to them.  It was literally raining cherry blossoms this past week.  Congratulations to all the cross-country runners who went out to run at Juan de Fuca on Wednesday after school.  Great job everyone!

The School Board has announced the Principal and Vice Principal positions for next year in the Sooke School District.  I will be continuing as Principal of Ruth King and Ms. Georgette Walker will be our Vice Principal.   Ms. Walker was the Acting Vice Principal for this past year, as our previous VP, Ms. Jeannie DeBoice, was working at the Board Office in the Curriculum Department.  Jeannie will not be returning to Ruth King next year and therefore Ms. Walker is officially Ruth King’s Vice Principal.  Congratulations Ms. Walker!

Have a great week everyone!

Reminders:

TOYS AT SCHOOL         Please remind students not to bring their own toys to school.  We have plenty of things for the students to do at school, and unfortunately their own toys tend to cause issues in the classroom and on the playground.  Thank you for monitoring what your child puts in their backpacks. Read to or with your children every night before bed.  It is a great way to relax and wind down from a busy day.

Volunteers Needed for the PAC FUN FAIR!  Please contact them through the Facebook page.

Ruth King Elementary School PAC

The PAC is asking for gently used smaller toy donations for the Fun Fair. A donation bin is set up outside the office. Also if any families have a home business or work for a company that have anything they’d like to donate for the “Loonie/Twoonie” auction they can email  ruthkingpac@gmail.com. Attendance at school is important to us.  Please try to have your children at school on time and ready for school.  If your child is late, please remember to sign them in at the office before heading to class.  If your child is going to be away, please call the safe arrivals phone line: 250-478-1447 Fun Fair will have a new event:  “Loonie/Twoonie Auction”. If you have any empty coffee cans, please bring them to the school.  Ms. Ives will collect them.
